The evening sunlight illuminates the mountain peaks at sunset in Gullesfjord, Norway.

Elbtunnel
I took this picture in the Elbtunnel in Hamburg, While riding through. The exposure is 1/3 of a second, and I zoomed in while the shutter was open. It made for a cool effect, since the car was moving as well.

Sunset
Sunset in Hamm. This picture looked almost like this out of camera. I only did some very minor developing (just adjusted the light values slightly) in lightroom. I'm happy with my new Canon 60D!

Dramatic Light
This photo is looking across the landscape while climbing Eldhraun, a very beautiful and delicate volcanic cone crater in Snaefellsnes, Iceland. The lighting in the picture is unusual, but I think it creates a nice effect the way it dramatically lights up the mountain and the sky. What do you think? Comments are always appreciated.

Shadows of ancient lava
The moss-covered lava flow of berserkjahraun, located on snaefellsnes peninsula, iceland. This lava flow is 3600-4000 years old, and has connections to the saga. It's quite amazing how raw and rough a lava flow is after such a long time. I guess, geologically, its the blink of an eye.

Volcanic Moonrise
The moon rises over Eyafjall above a thin plume from the eruption at Fimvörduhals. Sunset comes to a close, throwing reddish tones of dim light on the mountains. Soon, the eruption will begin to glow. To be continued...

Mýrdalsjökull
This is a photo of Mýrdalsjökull in Iceland. I took this as we were watching the eruption of fimvördurhals, the smaller eruption that took place before Eyafjallajökull erupted and stopped air traffic in Europe for a month. This is shortly before sunset.

Opernplatz in Dresden at night. This is a 20 second exposure at f11 with my Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens.

Vatnajökull
A glacier tongue rolling down from Vatnajökull in Iceland, the largest glacier in Europe. The scale of this glacier is massive, and defies description. One has a distinct feeling of insignificance as when entering its territory. A crawling beast of natural beauty.

Breaking Sun
While walking around Bautzen, Germany recently, I discovered this interesting scaffolding, obviously set up to keep these 2 buildings standing. The sun was streaming through the clouds and illuminating the space directly between the buildings. I had to stop and capture it. It took me about 5 minutes and 40 pictures to find the right angle and settings, but I finally got my shot. It was worth the effort.

Semperoper, Dresden
Here are 2 HDRs from the Semperoper in Dresden, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. Both are made from 3 pictures and shot by hand, without a tripod. The golden colors in this hall were very glowing and warm, with lots of guilded ornaments decorating and accenting each balcony.

Isafjördur
Here are 2 photos from Isafjördur, Iceland. This is one of my favorite places to be. Huddled between the mountains in the west fjords, it's very far out and away from the fast pace of our normal lives.

Severe clouds
The weather we've been having in Germany this summer has been very wet. It really seems like its been spring since march. I saw these clouds on my way out the door during a sunny break today, and had to take some shots with my new wide angle lens. Here are 2 pictures. Enjoy, and try to stay dry!
